Its a zip file with to following structureĮxtract these files/folders to a 4Gb clean USB formatted as FAT32. Renault Cars/MediaNav and download the file linked within the text that pops up) Which then asks you to enter the Brand Name of your device My daughter booked it in and was told their hourly rate of £114.Īt the last minute, we found another part of the NaviExtras website where you could enter the Product type (in this case Renault Cars and MediaNav) and Media unit type, with a note saying "If you are having problems updating a MediaNav, download this zip file, extract it to USB and try starting the MediaNav with the USB in place. We tried this, and when the MediaNav was switched on, an update did start, but it never finished - at least not after 30-40 minutes - it seemed stuck at one stage of the update.Īgain I raised a case with NaviExtras support and was told that a Renault Dealership had to perform an update from this old version. My daughter took advice from Renault who simply advised her to download updates from the web - no guidance as to where from - and no attempt to understand that the problem wasn't about map updating but the fact that the MediaNav firmware version was out of date (I had seen discussions about version 4.1.0 being the latest).Īfter a load of digging, and registering on the NaviExtras website, I found a file "upgrade.lgu" to put on a newly formated FAT32 (>4Gb) USB stick (start MediaNav with Engine On and with USB stick in place). Failed at that because when trying to copy the config to USB, you need to hit an Accept button, which was constantly greyed out and not therefore operational.
We downloaded the MediaNav toolkit to a Windows PC and following those instructions, aimed to put a formatted ( FAT32) and empty USB stick in the Media Unit to see if having the toolkit review the current config, would trigger some form of update. Maybe we reset to factory defaults, not sure, but disappointed even so, that it wasn't fully working. I'm not sure what MediaNav firmware version we started off at, but after some fiddling we found it was back at version 2.0.9 and the SatNav had also stopped working as well as the clock set feature. Manually we could make the change but once you left the clock set page, it would go back to GMT.Īutomatically it was clear that nothing was happening. Initially it seemed as though the MediaNav kit worked fine, (phone link, radio, satnav) but when we changed from GMT to BST in the UK, we coun't get the clock change to store. My daughter bought a second hand Clio (63 reg) earlier in the year.
Posted here in case anyone else has the same issue and is somewhat fobbed off by NNG (the software suppliers) and Renault between them.
